how to clean a keurig without vinegar
[Question] how to clean a Keurig
Does anyone know if there's a good way to clean out the inside of a Keurig? I was recently told that using regular tap water will eventually cause the Keurig to stop working because of mineral build ups. Not sure if this is true. Has anyone had this happen? I was told to use distiller water instead.

most people here are being dicks. sure, keurigs don't make a great cup, but whatever, it's what you like.
use a vinegar/water solution and run through once with that. after that run purified water through it anywhere from 2-6 times. the more cycles the better.

This is good advice, but I'd recommend a citric acid solution instead. You avoid the vinegar smell, and citric acid is easy to find and more effective at descaling.

White vinegar cleans and descales, but then you're left with vinegar unless you run just water through for two cycles. This applies to everything I've used that heats water and expels it. Not sure if this would hold up for a Keurig, but it almost certainly won't hurt.

Distilled water will make a lousy cup of coffee, even worse than the keurig already does. You should be filtering your tap water with a Brita, or something like that, and using it. For cleaning, just run vinegar through it once or twice, then run filtered water through it 4-5 times to get rid of the taste/odor. Hope this helps.

Keurig has cleaning instructions on its website. Different models have different instructions.

For the record, I use a regular coffee pot as well. sometimes my Keurig is convenient when I wake up late and am in a hurry.
